Winter weather and other thoughts

Been giving some thoughts to the upcoming winter weather, mostly they are thoughts of dread.

Working on the Prairie Post column concerning the farmer’s almanac and its forecasts read it in the Prairie Post on Tuesday and in this space on Wednesday.

Given the rolly-polly prairie dogs of TRNP we may be headed for a tough winter, but most likely it means they had a good summer.

  1. I’d never heard the prairie dog theory before. One I have heard is that the evergreen trees will put out large amounts of cones before a harsh winter. The trees around here don’t have many cones so I’m hopeful for a mild winter. There’s also the one about wooly catepillars but I’ve never seen one of those around here.
